The Secret Theatre
Located in the Long Island City neighborhood in Queens, The Secret Theatre is a multipurpose, performance complex. It hosts theater performances, music concerts, film screenings, art exhibitions, and classes and workshops, including regular productions by the Queen Secret Improv Club, an indie improv comedy collective; the Secret Children’s Theatre, Saturday afternoon shows for kids; and the Secret Theatre Late Night Series, weekly performances with an edge.
The Secret Theater‘s artistic director, Richard Mazda, is also the founder of its resident company, The Queens Players. They focus on adapting classics “with vibrancy, creativity and edge in a way that is thought provoking, accessible to a modern audience, and visually unique.”
The Secret Theatre is located just off the first subway stop entering Queens from Manhattan on the E and M. It is also near stops on the 7 and G. If you’re a stranger to Queens, don’t be intimidated, it’s easy to get there and not far from Silvercup Studios and MoMA PS1 (the Museum of Modern Art’s Queens outpost).
