Beyond Words – Location, Tickets, Reviews
Bill Bowers is an acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist. His shows combine music, monologues, and mime. Bowers is performing his autobiographical one-man show Beyond Words as part of the 2013 All For One Theater Festival for solo performances.
In a collection of vignettes from Bowers’ early life, Beyond Words combines mime, monologues, and sound effects to illustrate the people and incidents that influenced him as a gay boy from a small town in Montana. The performance maps out the sweet, heart-wrenching, bewildering, and sometimes terrifying moments in a boy’s journey to manhood. The play both speaks to his specific experiences and meditates on the larger impact of culture defining gender, contemplating what is a boy, what is a man, and how does a boy become a man.
