Animals Commit Suicide – Location, Tickets, Reviews
Animals Commit Suicide is part of the terraNOVA Rx series, presented by terraNOVA Collective, running in repertory with Death For Sydney Black.
Opening on World AIDS Day, Animals Commit Suicide tells the story of Chance, a 29-year-old who has everything going for him but is nonetheless weary and restless. He embarks on a self-destructive adventure of unprotected sex and intravenous drugs in active pursuit of contracting HIV. To increase his opportunities for exposure, he poses as a man with HIV on a dating site for HIV-positive men and meets Ethan, a caring baker with whom he falls in love. When his lie about being positive is exposed, he must confront Ethan and himself.
Animals Commit Suicide explores the emotional crisis incumbent in self-discovery. Playwright J. Julian Christopher shows a sense of humor and compassion in tackling sensitive issues while refraining from judgment, however, the confrontation between Chance and Ethan is not fully developed and it leaves the audience hoping for more.
Note: Contains nudity.
