The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic – Location, Tickets, Reviews
The first lady of performance art, Marina Abramović, and the forefather of contemporary Avant Garde theater, Robert Wilson, come to New York this Fall with a production that is a little bit of both and unlike anything else we are likely to see this season.
The Life and Death of Marina Abramović is described as an elaborate, quasi-Operatic biography of Abramović, in which scenes from her life and work are portrayed in a phantasmagorical manner. Light, visual imagery, non-linear progression, music by Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons), and the actor Willem Dafoe all collaborate to create what is deemed a “cultural event” rather than plain-old theater.
