Here Lies Love
Few would argue with the statement that Here Lies Love is one of the best productions to open in New York City this year.
Maxamoo has written about this show before here but we think it bears repeating. Here Lies Love is a disco-rock musical by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim about Imelda Marcos. The audience stands throughout the performance and mobile stages are reconfigured for nearly every number. Don’t let the idea of standing deter you. Roaming and dancing (optional) with the cast is amusing. This show will be on many a Top 10 list at the end of the year.
“Here Lies Love” has extended multiple times and performances are now scheduled through June 30th.
P.S. If standing for the 90 minute production is out of the question, a few seats are available in the balcony at each performance but your view may be obstructed at times.

Alex Timbers’s immersive, environmental staging of Byrne’s score (really, a bookless concept album released in 2010) turns the Public’s LuEsther space into a crowded, beat-filled discotheque, with audiences milling around rolling platforms as actors dance and sing above.
