NYC Theater Podcasts
In January we started the Maxamoo New York City Theater Podcast, a weekly discussion with super smart theater people about the shows we are seeing and what we’re looking forward to seeing. We also touch on the latest news in theater, comedy, cabaret, and other performing arts.
In the process of creating the Maxamoo podcast, we discovered several other theater podcasts. We thought our listeners and readers might like to know about them too.
If you produce or listen to a theater-related podcast that’s not listed below please tell us about it. We’ll add it to the list. You can find us on Twitter at @maxamoo or email us.
Broadway Radio
Reviews, interviews, and news about current goings-on on Broadway and beyond in the theater, hosted by James Marino.
Joes at Shows
Joe Cilio and Joe Silver discuss many topics — politics, movies, and other random things — but the center of their podcast is theater. They review current shows and talk to playwrights, directors, producers, and other theater professionals.
Go See A Show
A podcast dedicated to Off Off Broadway, actor Robert A. K. Gonyo interviews members of the cast and creative team from a different Off Off Broadway theater production every week.
NewYorkRep
Markus Potter, artistic director of NewYorkRep theater company, hosts discussions with New York theater artists and professionals including artistic directors, producers, actors, writers, and teachers.
Theater People
Theater enthusiast Patrick Hinds hosts interviews with Broadway celebrities. Recent guests include Michael Urie, Laura Osnes, and Andrew Keenan-Bolger.
AndrewAndrew
Multi-tasking duo AndrewAndrew — they are DJs, theater critics, fashion designers, and all-around cultural provocateurs — engage in free-ranging discussions with a different theater artist each week on their podcast The AndrewAndrew Show.
The Bowery Boys
The Bowery Boys podcast tells stories about New York City history. Although the podcast is not specifically about theater, theater played a big role in New York’s history and there are some excellent episodes that focus on the history of theater in New York, including: #159 The Broadway Musical: Setting the Stage; #139 Brooklyn Academy of Music; and #85 Shakespeare in the Park.
