Pulitzer Fest 2014 – Labyrinth Theater Company
Labyrinth Theater Company is hosting a new festival of staged readings of Pulitzer Prize winning plays, Pulitzer Fest 2014. Academy Award winning actress Ellen Burstyn and Obie Award winning actor Eric Bogosian as well as members of Labyrinth will participate in the reading series.
The line-up includes (descriptions provided by Labyrinth):
Topdog/Underdog, written and directed by Suzan-Lori Parks, winner of 2002 Pulitzer Prize.
A darkly comic fable of brotherly love and family. The play tells the story of Lincoln and Booth, two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke foretelling a lifetime of sibling rivalry and resentment. Haunted by the past, the brothers are forced to confront the shattering reality of their future.

I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright, winner of 2004 Pulitzer Prize.
A one-man show that explores, through the emergence of forty different characters, the extraordinary true story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf. An East Berlin transvestite and celebrated collector of Wilhlem II antiques, von Mahlsdorf successfully navigated the two most oppressive regimes of the twentieth century – the Nazis and the Communists — while openly gay and in defiantly in drag, and was, incredibly, distinguished with Germany’s Order of Merit after the wall came down. Featuring Eric Bogosian.

A haunting, probing work about the resilience of the human spirit during times of war. Set in a small mining town in Democratic Republic of the Congo, this powerful play follows Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman in a land torn apart by civil war. Featuring members of the original cast

Driving Miss Daisy written by Alfred Uhry and directed by John Gould Rubin, winner of 1988 Pulitzer Prize.
Set in the Deep South, racial tensions are delicately explored when a warm friendship evolves between Daisy, a rich, sharp-tongued elderly Jewish woman and Hoke, her black chauffeur. Featuring Ellen Burstyn and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Our Town by Thornton Wilder, winner of 1938 Pulitzer Prize.
The story follows the small town of Grover’s Corners through three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage,” and “Death and Eternity.” Narrated by a stage manager, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually die. Featuring Portia, Scott Hudson, Russell G. Jones, Daphne Rubin-Vega, David Zayas, and Liza Colon-Zayas
