Early Buzz: The Few
Many time award-winning playwright Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale, A Bright New Boise) reunites with his frequent collaborator Davis McCallum (The Whale, A Bright New Boise) on The Few this Spring at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. McCallum also directed the San Diego world premiere of The Few last year.
The play’s central character, Bryan (Michael Laurence, currently in Appropriate) created a newspaper for drivers of long-haul trucks and then abruptly abandoned his beloved business four years ago. The Few begins with Bryan’s return. He won’t say where he was and what he did during his absence. Everything is different now at the newspaper, personal ads replaced most of the editorial content, and Bryan is struggling to keep his faith in humanity.
