Double Crossed. The Feminism

Early Buzz: Doubles Crossed: The Ballad of Rodrigo/The Feminism of a Soft Merlot (or How the Donkey Got Punched)

Two independent theater companies – Funny…Sheesh Productions and Ivy Theatre Company — are joining forces to present two productions, one by each, set to run in repertory at Tada Theater, starting May 24, 2014.

Funny…Sheesh’s Doubles Crossed: The Ballad of Rodrigo reimagines the film noir crime dramas of the 1940s and 1950s and more recent neonoir films, such as Memento and L.A. Confidential. It includes all of the classic detective story elements: mobsters, cops, and a femme fatal. Jason S. Grossman wrote the play as a sequel to his 2012 play Doubles Crossed.

Ivy Theatre presents The Feminism of a Soft Merlot (or How the Donkey Got Punched), a world premiere by Micheline Auger. The play explores female sexuality through the relationships of two friends – a sexually-adventurous Kareena who tries on monogamy with her boyfriend and the sexually-inhibited Sam who experiments with a pornographer.
