Early Buzz: 33 RPM and A Few Seconds
Acclaimed Lebanese artists Rabih Mroué and Lina Saneh created 33 RPM and a Few Seconds as an experimental theatrical piece about the moments immediately following death. It comes to New York for three performances only, on April 29-30. It is presented by the Asia Society, Performance Space 122, and PEN World Voices Festival.
33 RPM and a Few Seconds is a multimedia performance with no live actors. It details the moments after the end of a Lebanese man’s life. He committed suicide and left a note stating that the reasons for his death are personal, not political. His electronic devices were left on and they tell the man’s story through texts, emails, Facebook posts, voice messages, and snippets of TV news.
