Let It Be – Location, Tickets, Reviews
The reviews haven’t been kind to Let It Be, a theatrical tribute to The Beatles. It was dubbed by one as “The cheesiest yet of all so-called Beatles celebrations” and another as the reason aliens would destroy our planet.
Let It Be is basically a Fab Four cover-band concert — four apt musicians, dressed as The Beatles in their different incarnations, sing approximately two dozen of the band’s famous hits. And that’s it. The music is good but there is no added value. For some it is clearly enough, the show moved to New York from a very successful run on London’s West End, so you should decide for yourself whether paying up to $135 for a cover-band concert with little soul, in a fancy Broadway hall that doesn’t exactly scream Rock n’ Roll, is a good idea. Watching A Hard Day’s Night on DVD is cheaper and, we’d argue, better.
UPDATE [Monday, 20 August, 2013, 2:15pm]
Let It Be will be closing much sooner than anticipated. It’s last show would be on September 1, and in total it will have played 9 preview shows and 46 regular shows.

“Let It Be”… strikes me as the cheesiest yet of the Beatles so-called celebrations, intended for audiences who prefer live fakes to experiencing the real thing on great documentaries and albums.
