Early Buzz: Hedwig and the Angry Inch – Tickets & Location
Since its award-winning premier in the late 1990s, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a rock musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, quickly developed a loyal cult following, which grew further when Mitchell created an award-winning film version in 2001. It’s the story of Hedwig, an East German transgender rock singer who fronts a band called “The Angry Inch” (a term also referencing the results of Hedwig’s botched sex change operation).
Neil Patrick Harris (TV: How I Met Your Mother; Theater: 2004 Tony Award winning revival Assassins) will star as Hedwig, in the show’s the first New York revival since its original run. Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot, The Met’s Rigoletto) will direct.
The first performance is not until late March, but tickets are on sale now and going fast. If you’re a fan of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (like we are) or if you want to see Neil Patrick Harris in drag (like we do), you should make your move now.
