A Night With Janis Joplin – Location, Tickets, Reviews
A Night With Janis Joplin has finally come to New York City after touring the country for two years.
Adapted from the memoir of Janis Joplin’s sister Laura Joplin, the show largely takes the form of an imagined Joplin concert with references between songs to her childhood, life, and loves. Instead of dwelling on stories of the blues-rock queen’s troubled life, the show focuses on the essence of Joplin’s music with more than 20 musical numbers, including most of her greatest hits. Critics have praised Mary Bridget Davies’ portrayal of Joplin and she received the Best Actress Award from Cleveland Critic’s Circle for her performance. Ms. Davies does not perform in the role of Janis Joplin at the matinee performances on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

New York Theater
“A Night With Janis Joplin” is more or less a concert, with some patter in-between the songs that could be called monologues.
