SEE THIS

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Hamish Linklater perform under the stars in Central Park in this amusing, 90-minute production of The Comedy of Errors.

The tickets are free and demand for them will increase as time goes by. This is the first weekend of the production, so the likelihood of getting tickets is at its best.

Also, there’s little rain forecast for this Friday and Saturday, so the risk of weather-related cancellation is slim.

NOT THAT

All Other Shakespeare

At any given time there are between one and a hundred Shakespeare plays being performed in New York City. If that’s an exaggeration, it’s a mild one. There’s way too much Shakespeare, squeezing out the production of new work. But we make an exception to our complaint for Shakespeare in the Park.

The vision of free theater is too utopian and the experience of summer outdoor theater is too lovely to do anything but embrance.
