Maxamoo was a digital media company covering art, culture, theater, and performance in New York City from 2012 to 2017. In 2014, Maxamoo ceased web and publishing operations as part of an agreement to join Flavorpill. The Maxamoo Theater and Performance Podcast continued monthly through 2017 and even today we gather and comment occasionally on the state of New York City theater.

Maxamoo’s goal was to shine a light on the diverse and innovative art and artists overlooked by mainstream publications. Many of the people and performances covered by Maxamoo were not otherwise reviewed. For this reason Maxamoo has kept its archive of reviews, recommendations, interviews, and commentary alive on this site.

There is a paucity of arts criticism and journalism in New York City and globally. This hurts art, artists, and audiences. We pray for a future with a healthy ecosystem of funding for media, writers, critics, journalists, artists, playwrights, directors, designers, actors, and everyone who contributes to our global cultural community.
