Faith, Family, and the Future: The Christians, Judy, Iphigenia in Aulis, and more

Aurin, Liz, and Nicole wrestle with new plays and new trends in playwriting.  We discuss Lucas “Timberlocks” Hnath’s new play The Christians and it’s approach to a crisis of faith.  We wonder about Max Posner’s new play Judy and if this style of experimentation is a new direction American theater is going.  We are surprised to discover there is an Anne Washburn play we didn’t hear about until the last minute, as her adaptation of Iphigenia in Aulis kicks off at Classic Stage.  We pop into the 1st Irish Festival for Little Thing, Big Thing by Fishamble.  Aurin gives us a report on the new play pipeline with the Juilliard Women Playwrights Festival and how playwrights today should be trying to get their work seen. Liz gives us a quick check-in on Mariah McCarthy’s Magic Trick.  We also get some Broadway gossip.
